Mar.17 – A letter written by primary school students has drawn wide
attention from the media and public because it was written to Premier Wen
Jiabao.
The letter was written by students from Binjiang Primary School in
Ganzhou in east China’s Jiangxi province. It was delivered by their
headmistress Liu Yanqiong to the premier when she attended the fifth
session of the 10th National People’s Congress, or NPC, China’s top
legislature.
In the letter, the students expressed their appreciation for the policy
of tuition fee waivers. They said poor students at their school have
received free textbooks provided by local government.
Premier Wen said at a televised press conference at the conclusion of the
NPC session on Friday that he received the letter the day before and
replied.
In his reply, the premier hoped the pupils will grow well.
